Excel London in the Community
Our success as a venue over the last 20 years has enabled us to be an active part of the Royal Docks community. We work closely with a number of community projects across Newham and encourage event organisers who have an active legacy programme, to invest in social impact projects as part of the event experience at ExCeL. Here is a snapshot of some of the different community projects we work with:
Newham All Stars Sports Academy (NASSA), whom we have supported for over a decade and more recently have helped to extend their profile by creating a new brand identity and website.
Community Food Enterprise (CFE), in addition to financial support we regularly donate surplus food, furniture, and other items for distribution to local community projects.
London Academy of Excellence, where our work is focused on supporting their Opportunity Fund and visits for academy students.
STEM Day, which is delivered by London City Airport and involves up to 450 East London students attending an educational day at ExCeL.
Hope for Newham, to whom we donate unclaimed lost property (for instance coats and other items of clothing) for distribution to homeless shelters across the borough.
As part of the ExCeL Legacy Programme, we have been working with our clients and key stakeholders to outline how they can have a positive lasting impact on our local community. This has included offering discounted tickets to certain events and donating unused laptops or technical equipment to schools.
KEEPING THINGS LOCAL
ExCeL currently spends up to £3.5 million per year working with a range of local companies from creative agencies to printers. All to keep spend local and help support the wider Newham economy.
